National Sports Day

National Sports Day is observed every year on 29th August to venerate the birth anniversary of India's greatest Hockey Player 'Major Dhyan Chand', also known as 'Hockey Wizard'. He was a trailblazer who strengthened Indian hockey to the level of International Standards. He made India proud by winning three Olympic Gold Medals in 1928, 1932 & 1936 respectively. He had scored more than 1000 goals during his vocation. He had been conferred with the Padma Bhushan Award in 1956.

Indians celebrate this day to ignite the spirit of sportsmanship and to evoke the message of integrity towards sports. It was first inaugurated in 2012 by the Government of India to pay homage to the great contributions of this legendary player.

Self-Care

Self-care is all about taking care of your own self. It is a key reason of happiness in our lives. In this situation of the pandemic, we have already realised that self-care is very important to lead a healthy and happy life. We have been overlooking this crucial element of life as we are more into unhealthy eating habits, casual lifestyles which result in many harmful effects on our health.

The present challenging situation has taught us all about the importance of good health and many realistic ways to take care of ourselves. The new learning about self-care motivates us to keep ourselves healthy and safe too.

We need to practice self-care to obtain healthy and balanced life. The following tips can be very useful for self-care when everything is “locked & down”.

1. Go green and be in harmony with nature: - We must go outside for a morning walk or jogging and do some Yoga. This will definitely help us in keeping ourselves physically fit and mentally stable. Moreover, it will make us feel livelier.

2. Give yourself a “Break”:- During this hard time, everybody is working online and overusing mobiles, laptops, internet, etc. The overuse of these gadgets has started causing ill effects on our health & mind. Therefore, we need to indulge in indoor games like Chess, Ludo, or Carrom to revive our energy.

3. Let’s be helpful & contented: - We must help our family, friends, and neighbours to keep up a good understanding and harmony. Helping others brings solace to our mind and soul.

4. Go vegetarian: - We must eat green leafy vegetables. By eating green leafy vegetables and fruits, we get high antioxidants to keep ourselves healthy & free from illness.

5. Read Books: - We can take out some time for reading books which will enhance our knowledge. Reading helps in getting good sleep, and keeps us fresh and updated.

6. Drink Warm Water & Take Warm bath: - Drinking warm water clears all the harmful germs from our body and cure cough and cold. We should take a bath with lukewarm water at least once a day as it removes germs and provides relaxation for our muscles. It equally begets us feel fresh and healthy.

Lastly, don’t give up and keep taking care of yourself...!

"It is so important to take time for yourself and find clarity. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself."

YOUR TURNOUT CAN TURN YOU OUT

We represent ourselves in every way, whether exhibiting a certain work ethic or sporting a certain appearance. Though we may prefer to be judged by our intelligence and experience, but we are evaluated by our style and attire in the first go.

Our first interaction instantly form the first impression and our appearance can heavily influence someone’s initial opinion of our personality, competence and capability.

Even after the first impression is over, our clothing can help improve people's reactions to us.

Society is very visually-based, and better-dressed people routinely experience better treatment and service than their sloppier counterparts. Clothing serves as a substitute for character in the eyes of people who don't know us well enough to judge us by anything else.

Though sounding silly, one who cares for his appearance becomes more responsible. Keeping a track of minute details of our perfect turnout will reinforce mental habits of attention to detail and planning ahead, that translate usefully into any career or skill. It is observed that once we start paying attention to our outfits, we start to notice them on others as well and vice-versa.

Like it or not, appearance does matter. When we dress, prettify and carry ourselves with grace, we are able to confidently convey what we are trying to. Carrying ourselves well-groomed allows us to gain confidence which is an important aspect of communication.

The clothes we wear and the way we groom ourselves change the way other people hear what we say. It subconsciously tells them if we are like them or  different. It determines whether they must listen to us or ignore.

That may sound superficial, but it's true that our appearance may not mean much to us, but it does to the people who see us every day.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Giving an elevate to your presence is a way of caring how much control you have over your own life. So look smart and carry yourself smartly.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

Independence Day marks the anniversary of the India’s independence from the British rule on 15th August 1947. This year, we will witness our 74th Independence Day. Freedom was never easy to be achieved but our freedom fighters fought very hard for it. We celebrate this day to pay a tribute to all those freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country.

India’s independence is a landmark in the world history because she achieved her independence without violence. Gandhiji’s worthy and effective principles  of Ahimsa, Satyagraha and Swadeshi are still the guiding lights worldwide, especially, at this time of the pandemic.

We have completed 73 years of independence and India has garnered remarkable achievements in various fields in all these years.

Being the second-most populous country in the world with almost 1.3 billion people, India has the strength of its democratic values. It has the largest number of elected persons in the world, thanks to its Parliament and a three-tier Panchayati Raj system across the country.

Over the course of 7 decades after Independence, the education system of India has evolved gradually yet phenomenally. From a literacy rate of 18% in 1951, we have moved up to 74.04%. Today, Indians hold the key positions all across the world.

Today, India has self-sufficiency in food production and exports of various food grains. We are the largest producers of fresh fruits, milk, pulses and oil seeds, sunflower seeds and the second largest producers of wheat, rice, sugarcane, potato, tea, cotton etc., in the world.

We have successfully eradicated various epidemics and Polio from our nation. Life expectancy grew up to be 68.89 years, which was only 32 years at the time of independence.

India is one among the four largest military powers in the world today, and has got one of the most sophisticated missile programs in the world.

To this day, we launched various space programs including Lunar and Mars mission, and on our way to commercially launch satellites of developed nations at very low cost, all thanks to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Everyone loves freedom, but very few of us understand the importance of it. We must not take our independence for granted rather we should always be ready to make all sacrifices to uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of the nation.

Let us celebrate this Independence Day by taking the pledge to be a responsible citizen and to bring laurels to the country.

Jai Hind!
