Plan your Career at the Right Age

India is the second most populated country on this planet with 1.3526 billion human beings. This ever-increasing population and the prevailing competition consequently place the child in a great dilemma.

In the present context, we need to understand that our children’s future should not be driven by luck or by chance; plausibly, it should be self-assured by their own choice with appropriate guidance and required conviction.

Right age for career planning:

As per statistics, 13-17 years (8th standard to 12th standard) is the right time for career counselling since the learners try to ‘fit in’ in all their known domains of available ‘Career Platforms’.

Role of Parents in Career Planning:

The role of parents in their children’s educational life should be productive and encouraging instead of measuring their success in terms of riches.

Moreover, parents must abstain from infusing their sought-after dreams into their children’s mind at a very young age. It is quite ironical that even without knowing the ability and aptitude of the child; they expect him to accomplish what they think is right for him.

Researches divulge that when students feel braced and cherished by their parents, they feel more self-reliant in their own aptitude to build their careers. As parents, we need to give our children freedom and time to discover their skills instead of commanding them irreverently to join the rat race.

Every child is unique and selecting a financially rewarding career for them is quite difficult; but career counselling can help them spot the right career at the right age.

Besides, the competent counsellors must be consulted while conducting the right aptitude test to understand the actual interests and aptitude of the children in the pursuit of choosing right kind of professional career for them.

Role of Teachers/ Career Counsellors

The teachers and career counsellors have a pivotal role to play in shaping up the career of their students. Only a teacher or career counsellor is reasonably familiar with their aspirations since the students spend most of their prolific time at school. Teachers, being the keen observers of students’ interests can naturally anticipate the scope of their future.

As a result, it becomes the vital responsibility of the teachers or career counsellors to look after and preserve the interests of students so that they live a healthy, joyous and sound life in future. Regular class surveys and counselling by the teachers/counsellors can help the students to stay on track and achieve the desired results during their schooling.

As a matter of fact, Career-guidance requires regular interventions to assess the students’ progress.

Role of Students:

For students, taking a right decision on their ‘CAREER’ is the most important phase in their life. The first and foremost step for a student is to explore career options as per his/her field of interests. A student must carry out useful researches; once he/she is settled in one or more fields of interest.

In addition, students must talk to their seniors or alumni who are operational in the similar field of interest so as to gather constructive knowledge about their experiences concerning both pros and cons. It’s wise to think about the general plan for moving ahead in the right direction; once a student is settled with all his/her doubts.

Finally, the students must establish a tentative timeline to accomplish all the requisite parameters for the admission process to the desired colleges / universities / institutions.

A right decision at the right time can create wonders for a child’s future.

Wishing Students’ Fraternity a Bright and Happy Future!!!

Role of Technology in enhancing Educational Outcomes

We all are facing the brunt of ongoing challenges due to unforeseen circumstances. The whole world is stuck due to these challenges.

The technology has emerged like a saviour during this undesirable situation where the whole world is more or less wedged at their homes. Great thanks to the modern day technological advancement that enabled us to connect with each other.

Over the years, educators and policymakers have been looking for some useful strategies to bridge the gap between actual learning and the assessment of one’s knowledge on the basis of his or her achievements. The effective utilisation of modern technology for sure has brought the largely sought after solutions to the same, especially for the gifted students who need individual attention. Technology based learning has become an essential part of today’s schooling. In the present context, all the global governments, education systems, researchers, school leaders, teachers and parents have realised that technology is going to be a prime element in a child’s education. As a matter of fact, the young learners need to be highly skilled in making efficient use of information and communication technologies (ICT).

With the encouraging advent of technology in our everyday life, the need of the hour is to re-evaluate the notion of integrating technology with the school curriculum on the pragmatic scale. Moreover, we really need to embed technology into pedagogy to support the modern age learning process. In this way, technology is going to be a fundamental fraction of the learning process and an imperative tool for the educators and policymakers.

The important role that technology is playing now in education, will give educators a key opportunity to design and bring about the constructive and practical changes into learning experiences as a whole. The practical based subjects like Science, Social-science, and Mathematics are now more attention-grabbing as far as a learner’s point of view is concerned. The conceptual learning of these subjects has become much easier and motivating for the learners with the help of Multimedia, Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

However, a lot more still needs to be done as the development of many new applications and ideas is under process in Indian education system.

Nevertheless, one thing is sure that the future of education system cannot be imagined without an effective amalgamation of technology along with a human touch in the form of support given by the proficient contributions of the educators.

Finally, in my opinion, the effective assimilation of aforesaid key elements of technology into pedagogical practices is going to bring forth the desired outcomes and will boost the process of Nation building.

WE ARE TEACHERS

India has a long-standing Guru Shishya tradition where Guru has always been revered. The following Sanskrit shloka proves the role and longstanding propitious position of a teacher in Indian Culture - "Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwarah Guru Saakshaat Parabrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namah". This shows that the teacher is conferred with the indispensable significance as equivalent to the God in our ethnicity.

We even have the famous Kabir couplet- Guru Gobind dou khade, kaake lagoon paay, Balihari Guru aapne, Gobind diyo batay”, Kabir wrote this verse to sing the glory of Guru, without whose help, one cannot cross this ocean of worldly life. He asks, “If both, Guru and God in form of Govind were to appear at the door, whose feet will I worship first?” He answers, “It has to be the Guru’s feet first, because without him, how would I have recognized (known) God?”

In this way, we have regarded our teachers with great reverence since ages. They have guided, inspired, encouraged and served the generations as their role models and were akin to their parents outside their home. We try to emulate our teachers to be like them.

The Life often brings new challenges for us. This time Covid-19 has sited lots of unprecedented challenges in front of us. We, the teachers, are also adjusting to this new reality. We have shifted from our traditional classrooms to the virtual classrooms. Those who were intimidated with the thought of using technology on a regular basis, now have to take the bull by its horns.

Learning various features of digitization correctly is important. But, using a digital platform and its features to teach effectively and ensuring that all the learners are indeed learning is vital. Despite facing all these challenges, we, the teachers, are ready to give our beloved students a world of knowledge. We promise that we will take up all the challenges in a positive demeanor and keep on inspiring, guiding and motivating our students.

After all, WE ARE TEACHERS…!
