EVEREST BASE CAMP – A Journey to Reckon With

There are some journeys that remain in your memory forever, not because they were easy, but because they changed the way you see yourself. My journey to Everest Base Camp was one such experience.

I am Ashwin Azad, a student of The Mann School, Delhi, and I feel deeply grateful to my school for giving us the opportunity to undertake this incredible adventure. What once felt like an impossible dream slowly became reality the moment I landed at Lukla Airport. I still remember my heart racing faster than the sound of the airplane engine as I stepped into the world of towering mountains and icy winds.

From the very beginning, the trek felt magical. We walked through beautiful villages, each with its own charm and personality. Phakding welcomed us with calm, flowing streams and peaceful surroundings. Namche Bazaar was lively and energetic, filled with trekkers and local culture. Tengboche brought a sense of calm and spirituality, while Dingboche and Lobuche stood quietly amidst the harsh mountain terrain. Every stop felt like entering a completely different world.

Of course, the journey was not easy. There were days when my legs ached terribly, and every step felt heavier than the last. The high altitude tested both my physical and mental strength. At times, I honestly doubted whether I could continue. But the mountains always had a way of rewarding us. Just when exhaustion took over, something beautiful would appear—a line of yaks crossing the trail, colourful birds flying through the forests, or a deer disappearing into the hills. Those little moments made the struggle worthwhile.

Finally, after days of trekking, we reached Gorakshep and then Everest Base Camp. By then, I was completely exhausted, yet overwhelmed with emotions. Standing there amidst the snow, silence, and gigantic walls of ice was a feeling beyond words. In that moment, I realised that this journey was never just about reaching a destination. It was about perseverance, friendship, courage and discovering the strength hidden within oneself.

The Everest Base Camp trek taught me that sometimes the hardest paths lead to the most unforgettable experiences. It reminded me that we are capable of much more than we think, especially when we keep moving forward despite fear and exhaustion.

This journey will always remain one of the most meaningful chapters of my life.

My Magical Book

One morning, I opened my desk and found a bright, glowing book that I had never seen before. As soon as my fingers touched the cover, I felt a little spark of energy. I realized this wasn't a normal school book; it was a real magic book made just for me. When I whispered a question to it, the pages started to turn all by themselves until they landed on the perfect answer.

Whenever I felt bored, the book would show me moving pictures of deep oceans or far-off planets. If I had a tricky math problem to solve, the numbers would dance around the page and turn into a fun game.

I kept the magic book in my backpack, and it felt like having a best friend with me all day long. It didn't need any charger, just my imagination to make it work. Every time I opened it, a new adventure began right there at my desk. My magic book turned every day into a surprise, and I knew that with it in my hands, I could learn how to do anything in the world.
