VIJAYADASHAMI

         VIJAYADASHAMI

We celebrate festivals to pursue the inherent values of our tradition and culture. The purpose of endorsing these festivals is to bring forth the most conceivable happiness amongst all.

The celebration of different festivals strengthens the roots of culture and values that trains the upcoming generation to carry forward our rich tradition. That’s why we organize ‘Ram Lila’ nationwide every year and celebrate the same festivals repeatedly.

Similarly, Vijayadashmi or Dussehra is celebrated to encourage the values of the good deeds that we learn from the victory of good over evil. Lord Rama defeated the beast Ravana and his army to make the world free from injustice and all kinds of negativity.

Dussehra symbolises the triumph of truth and goodness over evil with an all-important teaching that truth always wins in the end. People celebrate it with great zeal and enthusiasm throughout the country. Students enjoy a week-long festival break to rejuvenate and imbibe the great Indian values with the celebration of this festival.

We wait for this festival eagerly that culminates with the celebration of Deepawali right after twenty days from Dussehra.

Everyone must celebrate this festival in its true spirit with a sole purpose to learn and practice truthfulness and good things in life for the betterment of all. We must guide and encourage our children to learn more about the rich Indian culture through celebration of these age-long festivals. When our children watch lord Rama with a good conduct in life defeating all evils, they also learn all the good virtues indirectly.

The celebration of festivals like Dussehra is really important for the development of a sensible society. It is the duty of all the parents to teach the children the most essential values and conduct.

We must guide everyone in this male dominated society to respect the other gender unlike Ravana who disrespected goddess Sita. We have been quite abortive to learn from our own culture, may be under the influence of others. This is high time to sit back and contemplate; make a resolution this Dussehra to kill all the bad habits (Ravanas) inside us and emerge as the pure soul symbolizing the precious qualities of Lord Rama.

Relishing on toothsome festive delicacies and enjoying holidays is just not sufficient. We ought to practice what we have learnt from the greatest epic, the Ramayana.

To conclude, we need to learn the important aspects of the most disciplined life of lord Rama to achieve contentment and accomplishment overcoming all odds in life.

Thank you!
